The Barren City
Fear extends my hand to a fleeing cat,
She pulls me from the whirlpool of my sorrow,
She erases my feelings—
For I have burned myself away.
She gently pats my soul with tenderness,
And I wonder:
What does life look like without you?
What does life become when our rainbow vanishes?
When the barren city collapses in the mire of darkness,
And your splendid stars disappear…
I gather the remnants of my fear from this world
And bury them in a pit.
She quickly returns,
Crying,
Looking at me with a lover’s eyes,
Offering me a recipe for departure,
Throwing me a poem of no return,
Showing me the long road to salvation—
So vast, unlike any other.
She returns to guard the city.
For inside her is a blue heart
That can carry so much.
And each time tears pour down,
She floods the city with her love…
